Dr. Tanner can replace damaged teeth with crowns that look and feel just like your natural teeth.
Dental crowns provide a long-term solution to a patient's broken, damaged or discolored teeth.
Dental crowns are generally a solution for many major dental problems that are caused by accidents, diseases, root canals, or just normal wear and tear over time. The Material used for these repairs can be high-grade porcelain, or porcelain bonded to high noble metals. Dr. Tanner will guide you in choosing which type of crown will work the very best for you in regard to factors such as chewing and biting strength.
Many people experience pain from back teeth which have been filled in the past. This can be due to very small cracks in the tooth. Putting dental crowns on these teeth relieves the pain, but also allows a return of full function for these teeth. In front teeth, old fillings can weaken the teeth. This can cause appearance problems due to staining or chipping. Because of the difference in strength, porcelain fused to high noble metal crowns and bridges are suitable in cases where porcelain crowns are not. In teeth with root canal fillings, crowns can prevent breakage.
We want to provide you with a natural-looking smile. Where damage to a person's teeth is extreme, and may seem beyond repair, we can use porcelain or porcelain fused to high noble metal crowns to make the smile appear natural. This is an extremely reliable technique for repairing the most severe of dental problems, even permanently replacing missing teeth to offer a complete smile and a functional bite. These treatments are used for a long lasting correction of major dental problems.
Fitting a crown requires at least two visits to our office. On the first visit, we remove decay, shape the tooth, and fit it with a temporary crown of either plastic or metal. On the subsequent visit, we will remove the temporary crown, and then fit and adjust the final crown. Finally, we will cement the crown into place and you have a new beautiful looking tooth. Advantages of crowns:
Offers support to misshapen teeth or badly broken teeth
Looks completely natural
Helps functional chewing problems
Repairs severe discomfort
Corrects bite problems
